Having a good social media strategy is key when building your brand! I recently became Hootsuite Certified. If you aren’t familiar with Hootsuite, I would definitely check it out. Hootsuite is basically a social media management platform. Hootsuite makes it easy for companies to upload content and then the platform’s system does all the hard work for you. Hootsuite makes social media simple and efficient because you can queue posts and have them uploaded for you at different times across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, LinkedIn and even Google+.

When I became Hootsuite Certified, it actually listed out some great steps for creating a social media strategy. Some of the steps included setting goals that align with business objectives. Setting these S.M.A.R.T. goals is an effective way to track metrics. Another step in creating a social media strategy is to learn everything you can about your audience and then build audience personas. Knowing your competition is another great way to learn about what works for social media and what doesn’t.

Some other steps for maintaining a successful social media presence include:

· Always be human! No one likes looking at social media that appears to be ran by a bot!

· Separate channels – not everything like Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram needs to be ran the same way.

· Focus on clients - try converting followers into brand ambassadors!

· Scout the competition

· Coordinate your team! This is so important because it takes a lot of resources to create content, content strategy, maintain client interaction, and brand persona management.

· Find where your customers are and target that channel!

· Look the part – visuals are so important, so don’t forget to allocate some time and money for design purposes.

Thanks for reading and good luck creating your brand!
